TriRig Omega One Aero Brake

Season:2023

Brand:TriRig

Code:OMGONE01

OMEGA ONE: BEST. BRAKE. EVER.

For the better part of a decade, Omega has completely redefined what an aero brake could be. Our brakes have become the beloved favorite of pros and amateurs alike, and become the de-facto gold standard of aero brakes.

The new Omega One is a complete ground-up redesign, with an improved mechanical formula which both increases strength and offers vastly superior modulation. At the same time, the new aero shape is a complete rethinking of the aerodynamics of the system. Rather than a conglomeration of parts individually designed to make up the brake, Omega One was designed in its entirety as a single aerodynamic form, with its individual components carefully sculpted out of it. The result is by far the fastest brake we have ever made, which actually makes bikes aerodynamically faster than having no brake at all.

This brake comes with all the hardware necessary to properly mount it in place. Each brake includes a direct mount adapter for either the front or the rear of the bike if your bike requires an adapter it is included if you need one. So there is no real issue of needing a front or rear brake. The Omega one is designed for rear stay mounting and under bottom bracket mount also. Doesn't matter which way you mount the Omega One will always be aero in any direction.

Technical Information

AERODYNAMICS

UNIFIED SHAPE

In the past, our brakes were built one part at a time, and joined into a whole that was, indeed, the sum of its parts. Omega One turns that concept on its head; we started with a single unified form, based on the smallest possible space envelope that would meet the mechanical requirements. Then, we shaped that envelope into an aerodynamic form, and finally carved out the component parts from that aero shape. The result is a brake that is impossibly beautiful, elegant, and minimal, yet maintains all the mechanical proterties and features of our earlier brakes.

WIND TUNNEL PROVEN

Like all of our brakes, Omega One was developed in the wind tunnel. This is the fastest brake we have ever made, the fastest brake we have ever tested, and is in fact faster than having no brake at all. That's right; putting the Omega One on your fork actually reduces drag compared to having no brake at all!

TINY FRONTAL PROFILE

Although our previous brakes were small, Omega One is absolutely knife-like. It is the smallest possible shape which meets the mechanical necessities of braking. When mounted to a modern fork, it will add no frontal area at all, and in fact improve the aero shape of the fork. Other brakes stick out well past the frontal profile of the bike, disrupting air flow and robbing you of precious Watts. And Omega One's centerpull design means that the brake cable and housing get to hide from the wind as well, leaving nothing exposed.

POWERFUL, ROBUST, LIGHTWEIGHT

IMPROVED MECHANICAL FORMULA

The Omega's rollercam Wedge design provides an enormous mechanical advantage for excellent stopping power, smooth action and excellent modulation. Omega One improves on our past shapes, improving modulation while increasing power. It's as easy to install as ever, more powerful than before, and with plenty of modulation. You can go from no braking to completely locking your wheels, with infinite modulation in between the extremes.

HIDDEN INTERNALS, SAME WEIGHT

The new integrated shapes mean that all the internals are hidden from the wind and the elements, making the brake faster and also more robust. At the same time, we were able to maintain the same ultra-light weight as our prior brakes, making them lighter than Dura-Ace or Campagnolo Record, while still providing superlative power, modulation, and aerodynamics.

POWERFUL RETURN SPRING

A powerful spring on the rear of the brake returns it to neutral quickly and efficiently. This single fixed spring design reduces size of the brake, and allows us to keep the width narrower than most head tubes.

EXTENSIVE TESTING

The Omega brakes have passed the world's most rigorous braking safety tests from CEN and CPSC with flying colors. Omega performs well in both dry and wet conditions, and has been ridden ridden in every kind of training and racing environment, under some of the world's strongest professional riders. With Omega brakes dating back to 2012, we can proudly say the design has stood the test of time.

USER-FRIENDLY

Simplified Installation

Omega One is as easy to install as our prior brakes. The magnetic front plate offers instant access to the brake's internals. The Wedge provides a 'home position' for the brake's Levers, making installation straightforward and foolproof. And with independent pad position adjustment, it's easier than ever to set your brake and adjust as needed. Everywhere on the brake, we took care to make sure the details were done right. For example, every fastener on the brake is either stainless steel or titanium, for excellent corrosion resistance. The underside of the Omega's Front Plate forms a complete cover for the underside, helping to improve airflow and help keep the brake's interior clean.

INDEPENDENT PAD ADJUSTMENT

There is a set screw on each side that controls how far the pad is from the brake track. If you switch to a wider rim, just move the pads outward - no need to recable the brake or do anything else to compromise the performance and aerodynamics of the brake. If your brake pad has worn down, just move the pads inward. It is very quick and the most precise way to achieve optimal brake pad position. And because the pad stance is independently adjustable on each side, you can easily accommodate an out-of-true wheel or an off-centered brake mount.

COMPATIBILITY AND FIT

MULTIPLE STANDARDS SUPPORTED

Omega One is compatible with a traditional single-post mount, Shimano direct-mount, and TRP U-brake direct mount standards. This allows it to work with virtually any tri bike on the market! All fasteners and adapters necessary are included, so no matter what kind of shape your frame is in, you'll be able to mount the Omega One. See the Compatibility Page for details.

WORKS WITH ANY RIM, FRONT OR REAR

Nowadays, wide rims are becoming more and more popular. They offer increased stability and comfort, and have little downside. A lot of brakes on the market aren't compatible with wide rims as the brakes can't open wide enough. The Omega One, accommodates rims as wide as 30mm. It can also close down to work just fine with traditional narrow 19mm rims. So you can be sure the Omega X will work no matter what wheels you run. And you don't have to modify your brake pads, because the Omega can open to 32mm when using full-size, 6mm-tall pads.

FULL CLEARANCE FOR STAGES, ETC.

Some bikes use a Shimano Direct-Mount rear brake. One disadvantage of this design is that they make it impossible to mount a crankarm-based powermeter like Stages. Omega One preserves the full clearance envelope, eliminating compatibility issues.

CNC PRECISION

Nearly every component of the brake is individually CNC machined out of aircraft-grade T6 aluminum. We've tightened up the tolerances, ensuring every brake fits together like a fine watch. Omega One is a true piece of precision gear.

FIT GUIDE

This Guide shows you how to set up your TriRig Omni with the TriRigAlpha OneorAlpha Xaerobars. This Guide can help you replicate your current bike position, or set up your bike based on numbers from a bike fitter. The Fit Chart below shows the actual X/Y coordinates of your arm pads measured from the bottom bracket. This coordinate is the most important number that bike fitters use to determine your position on a triathlon bike. Be aware that some fitters use a coordinate to the top/back of the pad, rather than the top/center. In that case, you can subtract 44mm from all of the reach numbers in the Fit Chart, which yields the back of pad number. The steps below provide an easy-to-follow system for making sure you have the perfect fit with your Omni.

STEP 1: DETERMINE YOUR CURRENT FIT NUMBERS

What we want is the X/Y coordinate to the top/center of your aerobar pads, measured from the bottom bracket. Most bike fitters can provide this number to you when performing a bike fit (although some provide it to the top/back of the pads rather than top/center). If you already know these numbers, you can skip this step. Otherwise, follow the steps below to determine these numbers for your current bike setup:

1-Place your bicycle up against the corner of a room, with the back tire abutting the wall.

2-Next, measure the vertical distance from the floor to the center of the bottom bracket. We'll call this measurement Floor Offset (FO).

3-Measure the horizontal distance from the wall to the center of the bottom bracket, we'll call this measurement Wall Offset (WO).

4-Measure the vertical distance from the floor to the top of your aerobar pads. This measurement will be Pads-To-Floor (PTF).

5-Measure the horizontal distance from the wall to the center of your aerobar pads. This will be called Pads-To-Wall (PTW).

6-Subtract Floor Offset from Pads-To-Floor (PTF minus FO).This is your Pad Stack.

7-Subtract Wall Offset from Pads-To-Wall (PTW minus WO).This is your Pad Reach.

STEP 2: REVIEW FRAME GEOMETRY

SmallMediumLarge
Frame Stack

Frame Reach

Front Center560mm600mm640mm
Rear Center400mm400mm400mm
Seat Angle79°79°79°
Head Angle72.5°72.5°72.5°
Fork Offset48mm48mm48mm

STEP 3: SELECT SIZE, THEN FIND YOUR POSITION ON THE CHART

The chart below shows the stack and reach information for the TriRig Omni with the includedAlpha X aerobar, complete with the number of extension spacers and stem spacers used for each setup. Here's how to use the chart:

1-Use the dropdown box in the upper-right corner of the chart to select a bike size.

2-Find your Stack in the left-hand column of the chart, or the row that most closely matches your stack. Every cell in this row represents a way to set up the Alpha X on your Omni that will produce this stack number.

3-Each cell states the amount of Pad Spacers as well as Stem Spacers to use in order to hit your stack number.

4-In most cases, there will be multiple cells that can hit your stack. The best setup for your position will generally be the one with additional colored cells above AND below your selected cell. These cells represent room to move up or down in the future, merely by adding or removing Pad Spacers, which is generally the easiest way to make a position change.

5-Cells in blue represent a standard setup with the extensions over the bar. Cells in green represent the special undermount position, where the extensions are mounted below the bar.

6-Once you have selected a cell from your Stack row that represents your preferred position, look at the bottom of that column to the Reach section. The three rows of Reach cells show the reach to the center of the pad based on the three different adjustment positions available on the Alpha X arm cups. Select the one that most closely matches your Pad Reach number, and set up your pads/cups accordingly.

7-Note that fit numbers for the Omni w/ Alpha X are measured from the top/center of the headset to the top/center of the pad. All measurements for overmount hardware include the integrated BTA mount.
